The Rose Festival originated in May 1956, that year local residents planted 1,000 rose seedlings, and also launched the Rose Exhibition (sponsored by the Fukuyama Rose Society). Starting in 1971, sponsored by the Fukuyama Festival Committee, the Fukuyama Rose Festival was put on by city residents as a whole. |
