Bingo District Local Industry Promotion Center
Fukuyama City became the site of basic steel industries in 1961. In 1964, the area further developed on the occasion of designation of the Bingo Special Area for Industrial Consolidation with the gathering of a variety of local industries including not only steel but also textile, woodcraft, and machine metal industries.
Coastal Industrial Zone
Within those, traditional local industries such as Fukuyama koto, geta, and Bingo Gasuri manufacturing boast a large share of the domestic market. (Fukuyama koto have been designated as national traditional handicrafts.)
Fukuyama Technology Industrial Zone
In recent years, Fukuyama City has made progress as the site of a large semiconductor manufacturer, and numerous companies have arisen in specific fields that make unique products utilizing the technological prowess and know-how available only in a few select areas of Japan. To promote the fostering and invitation of companies in Fukuyama City, we have set up a variety of incentive systems and created links with organizations such as the Bingo District Local Industry Promotion Center and the Hiroshima Prefectural East Industrial Technology Center to carry out technological support and management training.
